Tai Chi in Keosauqua

March 5, 2015

The Keosauqua United Methodist Church hosts a Tai Chi class on Tuesday mornings from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. The class is designed for seniors, but its coordinator, Lil Perry, says, that it’s “open to women and men of all ages.”

Dating back to 12th century China, the practice has been widely adopted in the United States in recent years for its health benefits. “The classes focus on improving balance, core muscle strength, and relaxation.”

Tai Chi is a graceful form of exercise used for stress reduction. “Often described as meditation in motion, Tai Chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements.”

This ministry is an example of the ways that churches are reaching out to new people in their community. Using their spacious meeting room, they are providing hospitality and promoting health in Keosauqua and the surrounding area.
