Ainsworth Food Pantry

June 15, 2016

The Ainsworth Community Church has had a heart for mission for many years. The church was created in 1973 when the local United Methodist and Presbyterian churches “united together in love, fellowship and service.” Their mission is “to share the saving love of Christ and help persons grow as joyful disciples in ministry to all the world.”

The community food pantry is now located on the lower level of the South Church, and the office has moved to the North Church. Guests to the pantry can enter the building without climbing any stairs, and the space is more handicapped accessible. New shelving makes it easy to view and select food products.

For the summer, the pantry will be open on the second Wednesdays of each month (June 8, July 13, and August 10) from 1:30 to 3:00 PM. Participants who need to make other arrangements or have questions concerning eligibility are asked to call 319-657-2387 for confidential information.

Leaders from the Ainsworth Community Church participated in a Healthy Church Initiative study earlier this year which led to this development in their ministry and outreach to the community.
