Faith Sharing

April 16, 2014

Beth Bell, a new pastoral candidate serving Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville, is inviting the members of her congregation to share their faith with others.

In a recent newsletter article she writes, “I am called on to share my faith story every time I take a new step in the process” of being licensed for ministry. She describes how this discipline has helped to make her more comfortable “sharing my past in a way that creates connections with others. . . . Sharing the Good News is a wonderful thing.”

One of our Southeast District priorities is to help each other be more mindful about how God is at work in our lives. If you or others in your local church feel somewhat hesitant, you might try the exercise being offered at Faith UMC.

Members are being invited to share “a couple of paragraphs about defining moments” in their walk of faith. The hope is that the church’s newsletter will feature one of these stories regularly. Perhaps this technique would be a good place for your congregation to start, as well.
