District Askings

January 6, 2014

District Askings are our shared ministries of the United Methodist congregations of the Southeast District. Approved each spring at our annual District Conference, we are grateful for your support of these six distinct mission activities in our region of Iowa:

Mobile United Methodist Missionaries (MUMMs) is a rural ministry in southern Iowa that exists to spread the gospel and to facilitate the growth of United Methodist churches, especially noted for helping local churches reach children through Vacation Bible School.

The Southeast District Latino Task Force coordinates United Methodist outreach to speakers of Spanish, most recently focused on new opportunities in the Iowa City metropolitan area.

Justice for Our Neighbors (JFON) is a faith-driven ministry, welcoming immigrants into our churches and communities by providing free, high-quality immigration legal services, education, and advocacy at a monthly clinic hosted by the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church.

San Pablo United Methodist Church is our Spanish-language congregation, which shares a building with the Musserville United Methodist Church on the south side of Muscatine.

Iowa Wesleyan College is our United Methodist-related institution of higher learning in Mount Pleasant.

Emerging Ministries funds are available to congregations who are experimenting with new approaches to outreach in their communities. Click on the grant application forms tab online at www.iaumc.org/sedist to prepare a proposal.
