Nichols Circuit

March 14, 2013

The three small churches of the Nichols Circuit are reaching out to others using Facebook.

More and more, social media provide ways to reach out to new people who are not yet connected to our churches. The Cedar Valley, Nichols, and Conesville United Methodist churches started their webpage last year. Each congregation has an administrator who posts information, including the daily Upper Room devotion and prayer requests for members, friends, and neighbors in their region of rural Muscatine County.

They also use the webpage as a newsletter, posting event information and photos. Visitors to their Facebook page will discover inspirational messages, a variety of United Methodist resources, and even music. One recent post was a new set of lyrics set to the melody of “God of Grace and God of Glory.” The light-hearted poem laments the challenge of the change to Daylight Savings Time.

God of sleep, and God of slumber, help us not be late, we ask:
changing clocks one forward number, may we not forget the task.
Choir directors, preachers, teachers, all will bless you holy name,
if to Sunday church on time we came.

Anyone can become a friend of the webpage and receive notices when new information is posted.
